 Radio Station WABZ-FM no longer exists as WABZ, 100.9FM in Albemarle
Radio Station WABZ-FM left Albemarle, NC on November 1st of 2004. The station was moved out of Albemarle and the call letters changed. WSPC at 1010AM and WZKY at 1580AM both remain unchanged and are a great source for local news, weather and sports for Albemarle and Stanly County NC.
WABZ was the original call sign for 1010 AM in Albemarle when it went on the air in 1947. The call letters were also used by the new FM station at 100.9FM that went on the air a few years later in 1958. 1010 AM has since changed call letters a couple of times and is now WSPC-AM. At last report the WABZ call letters had been picked up by a station in the midwest.
